The latest teardown shows that Google has continued using an internal design intended to make several repairs more accessible. The approach differs from many competing smartwatches that rely extensively on adhesive to seal their components.
The Pixel Watch 4 previously received a 9/10 repairability rating from iFixit. The Pixel Watch 5 now receives the same provisional score based on the organization’s latest examination.

Google uses a latch-and-o-ring system rather than extensively sealing the smartwatch with adhesive. The construction resembles the sealing approach commonly found in dive watches.
This design allows the sensor glass to be removed using only two screws. Once that component is removed, technicians can reach several important internal parts without extensive disassembly.
The accessible components include the battery, vibrator motor, and mainboard. This arrangement can make certain repairs less complicated than they would be on a heavily glued device.
The Pixel Watch 5 also introduces several smaller refinements to its internal construction. One of the most visible changes involves the screws used throughout the smartwatch.

Pixel Watch 5 Display Repair Remains More Complicated
According to iFixit’s teardown, removing the display requires several additional components and steps. The process involves multiple screws, a bracket, and a press connector.
These requirements make display removal more complicated than accessing the battery or other internal parts. iFixit indicated that Google could simplify this particular repair process in a future design.
The observation highlights an important limitation within the Pixel Watch 5’s otherwise repair-friendly construction. Easier access to some components does not necessarily mean every repair is straightforward.
Nevertheless, iFixit provisionally rates the Pixel Watch 5 at 9/10 for repairability. That score matches the rating previously awarded to the Pixel Watch 4.
Google also provides repair manuals and spare parts for its devices. Those resources can support technicians and users who need to replace or service compatible components.
Repair documentation can be particularly useful for compact electronics. Smartwatches contain tightly packed components, making clear instructions important even when manufacturers improve physical accessibility.
