ultimateimp – Colorful has launched the E14 in China as an affordable 14-inch laptop with a performance-focused Intel processor. The new model combines a slim chassis, 16GB of RAM, and a 2.2K display.
The E14 is positioned as another potential alternative to Apple’s MacBook Neo. However, Colorful has chosen Intel’s Raptor Lake-H platform instead of the newer low-power Wildcat Lake processors.
The laptop uses the Intel Core i5-13420H, an eight-core processor from the Raptor Lake-H family. Its configuration gives the E14 a stronger CPU platform than many entry-level processors in Intel’s newer Wildcat Lake range.

Benchmark results suggest that the Core i5-13420H offers competitive processing performance in this segment. Its integrated graphics, however, provide performance closer to the two-core Xe3 GPU found in certain Core Series 3 processors.
Colorful pairs the processor with 16GB of RAM. The company has not disclosed the exact memory configuration or other technical details about the installed memory.
Because the E14 uses a Raptor Lake-H platform, its RAM may potentially be upgradeable. However, Colorful has not officially confirmed the upgrade options for this particular laptop.
The E14 features a relatively slim chassis measuring 16.5mm thick. It weighs approximately 1.11kg, or 2.44 pounds, making it lighter than the MacBook Neo.
Apple’s MacBook Neo weighs approximately 1.23kg, or 2.7 pounds. However, Apple’s laptop is considerably thinner at 12.7mm compared with the E14’s 16.5mm chassis.
The Colorful laptop features a 14-inch display with a claimed 2.2K resolution. The panel also offers 100% sRGB coverage for a broad color range.
Colorful rates the display at 300 nits of brightness. This figure is lower than the brightness level offered by the MacBook Neo.
The screen occupies 90.62% of the laptop’s front surface. This high screen-to-body ratio gives the E14 a relatively modern appearance despite its affordable positioning.
Connectivity is another notable feature of the laptop. The E14 includes one USB 2.0 Type-A port and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports.
Colorful E14 Starts at CNY 4,299 With 512GB SSD
Colorful has equipped the E14 with a cooling system designed to manage heat from its Raptor Lake-H processor. The laptop also supports 65W fast charging.
The internal battery has a rated capacity of 55Wh. That capacity may provide less endurance than some newer laptops using more power-efficient processors.
The base configuration available in China includes a 512GB SSD. Colorful has priced this configuration at CNY 4,299, equivalent to approximately $640.
The combination includes the Core i5-13420H processor and 16GB of RAM. It therefore offers a relatively capable hardware package for users seeking an affordable productivity laptop.
The E14 also provides several ports without requiring additional accessories. Its combination of USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, and a headphone jack supports a range of common peripherals.
Its 2.2K display and 100% sRGB coverage further strengthen the specification sheet. However, the 300-nit brightness rating may be less suitable for particularly bright environments.
Colorful has not confirmed whether the E14 will launch outside China. The company has an established presence in international markets, but global availability remains unclear.
There is already a similarly configured Colorful laptop available outside China. The Rimbook S1 also uses a 13th-generation Intel processor and targets the budget laptop segment.
The Rimbook S1 is slightly thicker and heavier than the E14. This gives the newer E14 an advantage in portability despite its relatively thick 16.5mm profile.
The E14’s main differentiator is its use of the Core i5-13420H. Colorful has selected a performance-oriented Raptor Lake-H processor instead of a newer efficiency-focused Intel platform.
That decision could provide stronger CPU performance for demanding workloads. However, the trade-off may come in the form of shorter battery life compared with newer efficient processors.
The 55Wh battery therefore remains an important part of the E14’s overall proposition. Real-world endurance will depend on workload, display settings, and power management.
At CNY 4,299, the Colorful E14 enters a competitive segment dominated by affordable Windows laptops. Its 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, and 2.2K display give it a strong specification balance.
