ultimateimp – Several months after its release, the Retroid Pocket 6 is now available through Amazon in the United States.
The Android gaming handheld was previously sold through Retroid’s website and third-party retailers such as AliExpress. Its Amazon arrival gives US buyers another option for purchasing the handheld.
The device is sold by Moorechip, the parent company of Retroid and AYN. Amazon handles fulfillment for the available listings, which should result in shorter delivery times.
Buyers can choose between two different Retroid Pocket 6 configurations on Amazon. The first model comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
It is offered in five colors, including 16Bit, Black, Light Purple, Orange, and Silver. This configuration also features asymmetrical thumbsticks, with the upper stick positioned above the lower one.
The 8GB model is currently available for $309 on Amazon. The second option features 12GB of RAM alongside 128GB of internal storage.
Retroid introduced this configuration in June as a replacement for the discontinued 12GB RAM and 256GB model.
The newer 12GB version is available in 16Bit, Black, and Silver. It also features the same asymmetrical thumbstick arrangement as the 8GB model.
Amazon currently lists the 12GB configuration for $349. Both versions therefore offer 128GB of storage, while the primary difference is their memory capacity.
The new listings could make the Retroid Pocket 6 more accessible to US customers.
However, buyers will pay a considerable premium compared with purchasing directly from Retroid.
Amazon Pricing Is Higher but Delivery Should Be Faster
Retroid’s official website lists the 8GB RAM model for $244 before shipping costs. The 12GB RAM version is listed for $279 through the manufacturer’s website.
Amazon therefore charges $65 more for the 8GB configuration. The 12GB version costs $70 more through Amazon.
Despite the difference, Retroid’s listed prices do not include shipping expenses. Customers ordering directly from the manufacturer must therefore account for additional delivery costs.
Amazon sellers also face platform fees and other expenses when listing products through the marketplace. This helps explain why the Amazon versions carry higher price tags than their manufacturer-listed counterparts.
The Amazon listings nevertheless provide one significant advantage for buyers who value faster delivery. Both listings indicate that the Retroid Pocket 6 ships directly from Amazon.
That suggests the handheld is already stored within Amazon’s warehouse network. As a result, customers should receive their orders sooner than those buying directly from Retroid’s website.
The shorter waiting period could make Amazon’s higher pricing more attractive to some buyers. Customers also gain the convenience of purchasing through Amazon’s established ordering and fulfillment system.
