ultimateimp – Asus has quietly unveiled the ROG Strix OLED XG27ACDMSR, a new 27-inch QHD OLED gaming monitor. The display appears to serve as a refresh of the ROG Strix OLED XG27ACDMS launched in 2025.
Both models use a third-generation QD-OLED panel supplied by Samsung Display. However, the newer XG27ACDMSR introduces EL 3.0 material and a five-stack “Penta Tandem” structure.
These panel changes bring several improvements over the previous model. The XG27ACDMSR reaches 300 nits in SDR, compared with 250 nits on the older XG27ACDMS.
HDR brightness has also increased from 1,000 nits to 1,300 nits. The higher brightness allows the new model to receive VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification.
The panel still does not use a pure RGB stripe subpixel layout. Asus instead adds a new BlackShield film coating to the display.
According to Asus, BlackShield improves black levels by 40% while increasing scratch resistance by 2.5 times. The coating therefore adds both display-related and physical durability improvements.
The biggest gaming-focused upgrade comes from the refresh rate. The XG27ACDMSR supports up to 320Hz, compared with 280Hz on its predecessor.
Other gaming features remain largely unchanged. The monitor supports Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro to help reduce screen tearing during gameplay.
Asus also retains ELMB technology for improved motion clarity. OLED Care Pro remains available as well, including the Neo Proximity Sensor.
The proximity sensor is designed to help reduce the risk of OLED burn-in. These features continue Asus’ focus on protecting the OLED panel during extended use.
Connectivity and Pricing Remain Unchanged
The XG27ACDMSR keeps the previous model’s connectivity options. These include HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and USB-C connectivity with 15W Power Delivery.
The monitor also retains the same overall design and ergonomic adjustment options. Asus has therefore concentrated the refresh on panel brightness, protection, and refresh rate.
The combination of a brighter Tandem QD-OLED panel and 320Hz refresh rate represents the main upgrade. The BlackShield coating adds another notable difference from the previous generation.
Asus has already listed the ROG Strix OLED XG27ACDMSR on its official website. However, the company has not yet announced pricing or specific availability information.
For reference, the older ROG Strix OLED XG27ACDMS launched at $649. The previous model remains available in the United States through Best Buy.
The XG27ACDMS has also appeared on Amazon in other markets. The monitor is currently listed in countries including the United Kingdom.
Asus has not confirmed whether the new XG27ACDMSR will maintain the previous model’s $649 launch price. Regional pricing and availability also remain undisclosed.

The XG27ACDMSR is therefore a focused refresh rather than a complete redesign. Its core specifications remain familiar, while the display panel receives several meaningful technical upgrades.
The 320Hz refresh rate should appeal to gamers seeking higher refresh rates at 1440p resolution. Meanwhile, the improved brightness and BlackShield coating enhance the monitor’s display and protection features.
Asus has yet to announce when the XG27ACDMSR will reach retailers. More information about pricing and availability is expected as the company expands its launch plans.
