ultimateimp – Honor has officially introduced the Honor Play 80 Pro in China, expanding its Play series with a smartphone focused on battery life and practical everyday performance. The new model arrives with a large 7,000 mAh battery, Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset, and multiple memory options, giving buyers a balanced package in the affordable mid-range segment.
One of the main highlights of the device is its battery capacity. The 7,000 mAh unit places the Play 80 Pro among smartphones offering extended endurance. Users who prioritize long screen time, travel convenience, or reduced charging frequency may find the device particularly appealing. Large-capacity batteries continue to grow in popularity, especially among users who rely heavily on streaming, navigation, and social media throughout the day.
The Honor Play 80 Pro also features a 6.8-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1610 x 720 pixels. The panel supports a 60 Hz refresh rate and can reach peak brightness of up to 850 nits. While it does not compete with higher-refresh OLED displays found in premium devices, the screen should remain suitable for browsing, video playback, messaging, and general daily use.
From a design standpoint, the phone measures 8.24 mm in thickness and weighs around 207 grams. Considering the large battery inside, the thickness remains relatively manageable. Honor is offering the device in three color finishes: sky blue, moon shadow, and dark night. These options give users a choice between brighter and more understated designs.
Camera, Performance, and Pricing Target Value-Conscious Buyers
Powering the smartphone is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 processor. This chipset is aimed at users seeking reliable performance for everyday tasks, light gaming, multitasking, and media consumption. The phone is available with up to 12 GB of RAM, helping improve responsiveness when switching between applications or running multiple tasks.
All storage variants include 256 GB of internal capacity, which should be enough for most users storing apps, photos, and media files. However, Honor has not included support for microSD expansion. Buyers who require additional storage flexibility may need to rely on cloud services or manage files internally.
On the camera side, the Honor Play 80 Pro includes a 50 MP primary rear camera. This setup should be capable of producing solid daylight photos and general-purpose photography. A 5 MP front-facing camera handles selfies and video calls. While the camera system is not positioned as flagship-grade, it aligns with the device’s price category.
Software-wise, the handset ships with MagicOS 9 based on Android 15 out of the box. This gives users access to the latest Android features alongside Honor’s own interface and ecosystem enhancements.
Another useful feature is IP65 certification. This means the device offers resistance against dust and normal water splashes, adding an extra layer of durability for daily use.

Pricing starts at CNY 1,899 ($275) for the 6 GB + 256 GB version. The 8 GB + 256 GB model costs CNY 2,099 ($304), while the top 12 GB + 256 GB configuration is priced at CNY 2,299 ($333).
For now, the Honor Play 80 Pro is only available in China. Honor has not confirmed any global release plans. Even so, the combination of a large battery, generous storage, and competitive pricing makes the device an interesting option in the growing value smartphone market.
