ultimateimp – HORI has opened pre-orders for its officially licensed Electric Ocarina of Time, an accessory designed for Nintendo’s upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The electronic instrument is priced at $49.99 in the United States.
The accessory is designed to work with the sound recognition system built into the Nintendo Switch 2 remake. Players can perform melodies through the ocarina, allowing the console to recognize the sounds and trigger corresponding actions in the game.

Nintendo previously demonstrated this feature during the game’s presentation. Series producer Eiji Aonuma showed that players can hum the required melodies into the Switch 2 microphone to activate the corresponding abilities.
HORI’s accessory provides a more dedicated method for performing those melodies. The Electric Ocarina of Time can play the 12 songs featured in the game and sends the audio through the Switch 2’s microphone for recognition.
The accessory features two different operating modes. Free Play allows players to produce individual notes and practice melodies manually, while Auto-Play lets users play any of the game’s 12 songs by pressing a button.
Electric Ocarina Features Two Playing Modes
Unlike a traditional ocarina, HORI’s model uses electronic components and does not require players to blow air through it. The device includes a volume dial that lets users adjust the sound level according to their surroundings.
The accessory also features a headphone jack and an external speaker. Players can use headphones for quieter sessions or use the built-in speaker when they want to play the melodies aloud.
HORI lists the Electric Ocarina of Time for 7,980 yen in Japan. The company plans to launch the Japanese version on November 5, the same day Nintendo will release the Ocarina of Time remake.
In the United States, HORI lists the accessory for $49.99 through the Nintendo Store and its own online shop. HORI Europe also lists the NSX-261 model with a November 27 release date.
However, European retailers have not opened pre-orders yet. Nintendo has also teased another Ocarina of Time accessory that differs from HORI’s electronic model.
Nintendo describes the second accessory as a genuine playable ocarina rather than an electronic device. The company has not yet revealed its price or release date.
Nintendo plans to launch the Ocarina of Time remake on November 5 as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. The company will not release the remake for the original Nintendo Switch or Switch Lite.
Zelda Remake and Anniversary Hardware
The physical version of the remake will cost $69.99 in the United States, while the digital version will be priced at $59.99. In the UK, the corresponding prices are £58.99 and £49.99.
The first print run of the physical game will feature textured foil packaging. Nintendo is not offering a pre-order bonus or collector’s edition through its own store.
The game is rated E10+ and will support single-player gameplay. Its release is part of Nintendo’s wider celebration of The Legend of Zelda’s 40th anniversary.
Nintendo is also preparing a Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 console. The special-edition system will launch on October 29 for $519.99 in the United States or £434.99 in the UK.
A matching Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller will also be available for $99.99. A separate $109.99 bundle includes the controller and a display stand.
The anniversary console does not include a copy of the Ocarina of Time remake. Nintendo announced the remake, special-edition hardware and accessories during its Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on September 8.
Pre-orders for the announced products are currently available. The Electric Ocarina of Time adds another physical way for players to interact with the remake’s musical mechanics when the game launches in November.
