ultimateimp – Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition, adding a refreshed variant to its expanding Redmi Note 15 lineup. Unlike a simple cosmetic update, this version brings meaningful hardware changes compared to the standard Redmi Note 15 5G.
The biggest change comes in the camera system. Xiaomi replaces the original 108 MP main sensor and 8 MP ultra-wide lens with a single 50 MP primary camera. This sensor is believed to be the Light Hunter 400, commonly used in mid-range devices. However, the trade-off is the removal of the ultra-wide camera, leaving only an auxiliary lens alongside the main shooter.
On the front, the device retains the same 20 MP selfie camera as the regular version. This ensures consistency but does not introduce any upgrades. Overall, the camera setup shifts focus toward simplicity rather than versatility.
Another key improvement is the battery capacity. The Special Edition features a 5,800 mAh battery, larger than the international version of the Redmi Note 15 5G. This matches the Chinese variant and should deliver longer usage times.
The design also sees a refresh with a new “Crimson Reserve” color option. This joins Carbon Black and Frosted White, giving users more aesthetic choices. The new finish helps visually distinguish the Special Edition from the standard model.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 and AMOLED Display Retained With Competitive Pricing
Despite the changes, core specifications remain the same. The device continues to feature a 6.77-inch AMOLED display, offering vibrant colors and a premium viewing experience. It maintains its position in the mid-range segment.
The Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition uses the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset to power its performance. This processor delivers balanced performance for everyday tasks, multitasking, and moderate gaming. The device pairs the chipset with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage.
Xiaomi prices the Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition starting at INR 19,999 (~$215) for the 6 GB + 128 GB model. The company sets higher configurations with 8 GB RAM at INR 21,999 (~$235) and INR 23,999 (~$255). These options give buyers flexibility depending on their needs.
Pre-orders in India begin on April 7. Xiaomi has not yet confirmed global availability for this Special Edition. For now, its release appears focused on select markets.
With a larger battery and streamlined camera system, the Special Edition offers a slightly different value proposition. It prioritizes endurance and efficiency over camera variety. For users who value battery life, this could be the more appealing choice.
