ultimateimp – Meta is testing a new subscription service for Instagram called Instagram Plus, offering exclusive features designed to enhance user experience. The test has recently been spotted in the Philippines and Mexico, where some users have seen in-app prompts promoting the new service. This move reflects Meta’s broader effort to expand beyond advertising revenue and explore premium subscription models.
The early rollout remains limited, as Meta confirmed the feature is only available in a few countries. A help page on the company’s website also states that Instagram Plus is not yet accessible to all users. This indicates that the service is still in an experimental stage, with feedback likely shaping future expansion decisions.
Screenshots shared by social media consultant Matt Navarra reveal that Instagram Plus focuses heavily on improving Stories functionality. One of the main features allows users to extend Stories beyond the usual 24-hour limit. This extension adds an additional 24 hours of visibility, giving users more time to engage with their audience.
The subscription also introduces advanced audience management tools. Users can create multiple audiences for Stories, allowing more targeted content sharing. This feature helps users better control who sees their posts while maintaining flexibility in communication.
Premium Story Features and Pricing Details Revealed
Instagram Plus provides deeper insights into Story engagement. Subscribers can see who has rewatched their Stories, offering a more detailed understanding of audience behavior. The service also allows users to search through the list of viewers, making it easier to track interactions.
Another key feature is the preview function. According to Meta, this allows users to view part of another person’s Story without appearing on the viewer list. This adds a level of privacy that is not currently available in the standard version of Instagram.
Additional tools include “spotlight” Stories and a new reaction option called “super hearts.” These features aim to enhance interaction and provide more expressive ways for users to engage with content. Together, they indicate a shift toward more personalized and interactive Story experiences.
Pricing for Instagram Plus appears relatively affordable during this testing phase. In the Philippines, the service costs 65 PHP per month, or about $1.07. In Mexico, the price is set at 39 MXN per month, or around $2.15. Meta is also offering a one-month free trial to encourage users to try the service.
The concept closely mirrors Snapchat+, a subscription model launched in 2022 that offers exclusive features to paying users. Snapchat+ has gained millions of subscribers and contributes significantly to non-advertising revenue. Meta appears to be adopting a similar approach to strengthen its own business model.

This test aligns with Meta’s broader strategy to expand subscription offerings. Earlier this year, the company announced plans to explore new subscription types, including those focused on artificial intelligence features. Meta has also been promoting its Meta Verified subscription more aggressively through discounts and trial offers.
The company has also tested other monetization strategies, including enabling link sharing in Instagram captions for subscribers while restricting it for non-subscribers on Facebook. These changes suggest a gradual shift toward premium access models across Meta’s platforms.
