ultimateimp – Backbone and GameSir have introduced special editions of their telescopic mobile controllers for Xbox’s 25th anniversary.
Both companies have designed limited-edition models featuring translucent shells and Xbox-inspired styling. Each controller also comes with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate benefit.
The releases follow other third-party gaming accessories created to celebrate Xbox’s 25th anniversary. Backbone and GameSir are now joining those celebrations with mobile-focused gaming hardware.
The Backbone Pro Xbox 25th Anniversary Edition builds on the company’s existing Backbone Pro controller. The original model launched more than a year ago in a black finish.

Backbone later introduced an Xbox Edition in November 2025. That version featured a translucent green shell inspired by Xbox’s recognizable design.
The company also previously released a Kith collaboration featuring a limited-edition Backbone Pro. For the 25th anniversary, Backbone has taken a different approach to the controller’s appearance.
The anniversary edition comes in three translucent color options. These are Iconic Blue, Crystal Clear, and Bold Orange.
However, buyers cannot choose which color they receive. Backbone is using a blind-box format, meaning the specific color remains unknown until the package is opened.
This approach gives the controller a collectible aspect. Customers essentially receive one of three anniversary designs without being able to select their preferred finish.
Backbone has also avoided simply repeating the translucent green design used by Xbox’s anniversary hardware. Instead, the three transparent colors give the mobile controller a distinct appearance.
The Backbone Pro Xbox 25th Anniversary Edition is available for pre-order at $159.99. Each controller includes a free one-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
The anniversary model is also cheaper than Backbone’s existing versions. The standard Backbone Pro costs $169.99, while the Xbox Edition is priced at $179.99.
GameSir X5 Lite Anniversary Edition Adds Xbox-Themed Hardware
GameSir has also released a special edition of its X5 Lite telescopic mobile controller.
Officially called the GameSir X5 Lite for Xbox 25th Anniversary Edition, the controller uses a translucent green shell. The design draws inspiration from the original Xbox console.
The anniversary model also changes the controller’s central branding. It features an Xbox button below the right thumbstick instead of the GameSir button found on standard versions.
The Xbox anniversary edition differs from the standard X5 Lite beyond its appearance. GameSir has also upgraded several hardware and compatibility features.
The special edition supports both Apple devices and Android smartphones. Its Apple compatibility comes through MFi certification.
By comparison, the standard X5 Lite supports Android devices only. The broader compatibility makes the anniversary edition more flexible for mobile gamers.
GameSir has also equipped the Xbox version with Hall Effect joysticks. Hall Effect triggers are included as another hardware upgrade.
The controller features physically swappable ABXY buttons. This allows users to change the button configuration physically rather than relying entirely on software customization.
The GameSir X5 Lite for Xbox 25th Anniversary Edition costs $44.99. That is $10 more than the standard X5 Lite, which is priced at $34.99.

The higher price includes several additional items. Buyers receive a storage case and button clip alongside an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate voucher.
The two anniversary controllers target different price segments within the mobile gaming market. Backbone’s Pro model occupies the premium category, while GameSir’s X5 Lite remains significantly more affordable.
Backbone’s blind-box approach also gives its anniversary model a stronger collectible angle. Buyers can receive Iconic Blue, Crystal Clear, or Bold Orange without choosing beforehand.
GameSir takes a more recognizable Xbox approach with its translucent green finish. It also adds several functional improvements compared with the standard X5 Lite.
Both controllers include Xbox Game Pass Ultimate benefits. This gives buyers access to Microsoft’s gaming subscription alongside their anniversary hardware.
