ultimateimp – Garmin is preparing to officially unveil the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro in the coming hours. The next-generation flagship smartwatches have already appeared in numerous images.
The leaked images provide an early look at the two models, including their designs, sensors, display technologies, and available finishes. Some images reportedly originated from Garmin’s official website.
Garmin’s launch event is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. CEST. The company is expected to reveal complete specifications and additional features during the presentation.
Earlier leaks appeared on Monday and provided the first images of the Fenix 9 Pro. Garmin Taiwan’s website also revealed information about some of the upcoming smartwatch features.
The latest images offer a clearer look at the rear sensor systems. Both the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro reportedly use Garmin’s Elevate 5 sensor platform.
Garmin already uses the Elevate 5 system in the Fenix 8 generation. The arrangement of LEDs, photodiodes, and electrical sensors appears unchanged between the existing and upcoming models.
The charging port also appears to remain the same as the previous generation. This suggests Garmin has retained several established hardware elements while updating other aspects of the watches.
Both upcoming models reportedly feature titanium cases. Their displays are covered by sapphire glass, reinforcing the premium positioning of the Fenix range.
Information printed on the rear of the watches indicates 10 ATM water resistance. The watches are also suitable for diving to depths of up to 40 meters.
The Fenix 9 Pro appears to have a more premium construction than the standard model. Its frame uses metal, while the standard Fenix 9 reportedly uses a plastic frame.
The Pro version also carries “Garmin” engraved on the right side of the case. The detail provides another visible distinction between the two models.
Fenix 9 Pro Could Feature 3,000-Nit AMOLED and Solar MiP Display
One of the leaked images reportedly shows solar cells integrated into the MiP version of the Fenix 9 Pro. Garmin designed the technology to extend battery life during outdoor use.
Garmin has previously incorporated solar charging into its outdoor-focused smartwatches. The feature could therefore remain important for users who spend extended periods outdoors.
The Fenix 9 Pro is also expected to feature an AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. However, Garmin has not yet officially confirmed this specification.
The Pro model is also expected to offer 64GB of flash storage. The additional capacity could give users more room to store maps, music, and other smartwatch content.
The available images suggest that Garmin continues to use the rugged design language of the Fenix family. The company combines titanium construction, sapphire glass, and high water resistance to target demanding outdoor users.
The 40-meter diving rating also indicates that Garmin designed the watches for more than everyday fitness tracking. Their specifications support activities that involve extended exposure to water and demanding outdoor environments.
Garmin’s continued use of the Elevate 5 sensor system could indicate that the company focused its hardware changes on other areas. The company appears to have retained the existing sensor arrangement while introducing display and design updates.
Garmin could also simplify the transition for existing users by retaining the same charging port. However, users will need official compatibility information before determining whether their existing accessories will work with the new models.
