ultimateimp – Xiaomi has confirmed that the Redmi K100 series will receive a standard model at a later date. The company also announced plans for a new gaming smartphone under the Redmi K series. These announcements expand the lineup beyond the recently launched Redmi K100 Pro models. Xiaomi introduced the Redmi K100 Pro and Redmi K100 Pro Max as its latest performance smartphones.
The Redmi K100 Pro Max has reportedly achieved strong first-day sales following its launch. Its reported sales performance exceeded that of its predecessor during the corresponding launch period. The strong response gives Xiaomi additional momentum as it expands the K100 family.
Wei Siqi, general manager of Xiaomi China’s marketing department, revealed the plans during the launch event. She confirmed that Xiaomi will release a standard Redmi K100 after the Pro models. However, the company did not announce a specific release date for the standard version. Xiaomi also withheld technical specifications for the upcoming smartphone.
The standard Redmi K100 is expected to sit below the Pro models within the product range. Its positioning suggests that Xiaomi could offer a lower price than its Pro siblings. The phone may therefore use less powerful hardware than the existing flagship models. However, Xiaomi has not confirmed any specific differences in specifications or performance.
Redmi Product Manager Bamboo Shoots separately reaffirmed the standard model’s existence on Weibo. The post stated that the Redmi K100 standard edition would launch at a later time. It also identified exceptionally long battery life as one of the phone’s key selling points. Redmi has not yet disclosed the battery capacity or charging capabilities.
Redmi K Series Gaming Smartphone Will Target the Premium Market
Xiaomi has also revealed plans for a dedicated gaming smartphone under the Redmi K series. Redmi Product Manager Bamboo Shoots described the device as a premium flagship rather than a basic gaming phone. The company reportedly invested significant development resources into the upcoming smartphone. The comments indicate that Redmi wants to position the device at the high end of the market.
Redmi has not yet revealed the gaming phone’s technical specifications or official launch date. Details about its processor, display, cooling system and battery therefore remain unknown. The company has also not confirmed the device’s final name.
The Weibo announcement suggests that the gaming smartphone will target customers with higher budgets. This positioning differs from Redmi’s traditional reputation for offering aggressive pricing across its product ranges. The new device could instead compete directly with premium gaming smartphones from established manufacturers.
One potential rival is the RedMagic 11S Pro, which targets demanding mobile gaming users. That segment typically emphasizes sustained performance, advanced cooling and gaming-specific hardware features. Redmi’s premium positioning suggests that similar priorities could influence its upcoming device. However, Xiaomi has not confirmed specific features or named a direct competitor.

The gaming smartphone could become a new high-end product within the broader Redmi K ecosystem. Meanwhile, the standard Redmi K100 could appeal to users prioritizing battery endurance and value. This strategy would give Redmi greater coverage across different segments of the performance smartphone market.
The two upcoming phones currently have limited confirmed information beyond their positioning. Xiaomi has not announced pricing, complete specifications or precise launch schedules for either device. Future announcements are therefore expected to provide more information about both smartphones.
