A new leak claims the Ryzen 7 9800HX3D will feature eight Zen 5 cores and 96 MB of L3 cache. The processor could reportedly arrive around CES 2027 if AMD follows its rumored production schedule. Its smaller core count could also help bring 3D V-Cache technology to more gaming laptops.
The information comes from Weibo leaker Golden Pig Upgrade Pack, who previously reported that the processor used the Ryzen 7 9755HX3D name. AMD has reportedly settled on Ryzen 7 9800HX3D instead. The new name would align the mobile chip more closely with the popular desktop Ryzen 7 9800X3D.

According to the leak, the Ryzen 7 9800HX3D will have eight cores and 16 threads. The processor could reach a boost clock of up to 5.1 GHz. It is also expected to feature 96 MB of L3 cache, enabled by AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology. These specifications would make the processor notably different from AMD’s existing mobile X3D lineup.
If accurate, the Ryzen 7 9800HX3D would become AMD’s first eight-core mobile processor with 3D V-Cache. AMD’s previous laptop processors with the technology have used 16-core configurations. Those chips include the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D and Ryzen 9 9955HX3D, which target high-end gaming notebooks.
