ultimateimp – AYN and Retroid have released new over-the-air software updates for their flagship Android gaming handhelds. The latest firmware focuses on improving system stability, fixing software bugs, and introducing new features for the Retroid Pocket 6.
The releases continue a recent trend of manufacturers providing frequent software support for Android handhelds. Earlier, Anbernic also rolled out several firmware updates for its gaming devices.
AYN has released firmware version 1.0.0.187 for the Odin 3, while Retroid has introduced version 1.0.0.404 for the Pocket 6. Owners can download both updates directly through the built-in OTA update system.
Although the Odin 3 update does not introduce new functionality, it includes several important fixes affecting gaming performance and system operation.
The Pocket 6 update combines multiple bug fixes with two new features designed to improve gameplay and display quality.
Both companies continue refining their flagship handhelds after launch through regular software maintenance. These updates aim to improve everyday reliability while addressing issues reported by users.
Installing the latest firmware also improves compatibility with supported accessories and applications. Players are encouraged to update their devices to benefit from the latest optimizations.
However, some known issues remain unresolved on the Odin 3 despite the latest firmware release.
Odin 3 Firmware Improves GPU Stability and Resolves Multiple Bugs
The Odin 3 receives firmware version 1.0.0.187 with several system-level improvements. AYN focuses primarily on stability instead of adding new features.
One of the most significant changes updates the GPU driver to version 800.72. The new driver resolves GPU hang issues experienced in demanding games such as Zenless Zone Zero.
The update also fixes a microphone issue affecting WeChat voice calls. Some users previously reported that the microphone remained silent during conversations.
AYN has corrected abnormal display resolution problems when connecting compatible augmented reality glasses. This improves compatibility with external display accessories.
The latest firmware also eliminates random crashes occurring while launching PUBG Mobile. Players should experience improved stability after updating.
Another correction restores the missing input method pop-up during wireless Shizuku pairing. This change simplifies the pairing process for affected users.
AYN has additionally corrected inaccurate battery cutoff current readings shown by applications such as Battery Monitor.apk.
Despite these improvements, users continue reporting HDR display issues and excessive fan noise through the Odin 3 Discord community. Those problems remain unresolved in the latest release.
Owners using Rocknix may encounter an “Upgrade failed. code = 20” message while installing the update. Restoring the original bootloader using the restore_backup_abl script resolves the installation issue before applying the OTA update.
Pocket 6 Adds OLED Ultra Black Mode and Better Controller Support
Retroid’s latest Pocket 6 firmware arrives as version 1.0.0.404. Unlike the Odin 3 update, this release introduces new features alongside several software fixes.
The update resolves excessive battery drain occurring when the Retroid Dual Screen Add-on remained connected during sleep mode. This improvement enhances standby battery life.
Retroid also fixes permission errors involving PrebuiltGmsCore and the Google Play Store. These corrections improve software compatibility across the operating system.
Another bug fix corrects incorrect text displayed on the lock screen interface. The change improves the overall user experience.
The new firmware introduces a revised gamepad takeover method supporting vibration feedback. It also enables haptic functionality for Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers.
Retroid has additionally introduced Ultra Black Mode for the Pocket 6’s OLED display. The feature enhances black levels while taking advantage of OLED display technology.
The new display mode improves visual quality during games and media playback. Users should notice deeper contrast and richer dark scenes.
With firmware version 1.0.0.187 for the AYN Odin 3 and version 1.0.0.404 for the Retroid Pocket 6, both manufacturers continue strengthening their flagship Android handhelds through regular OTA updates that improve stability, expand functionality, and enhance the overall gaming experience despite a few remaining software issues.
