New Handheld Could Feature Dual Displays

Retroid unveiled the Pocket Nova at the end of June. Equipping the compact gaming handheld with an Internet of Things (IoT) version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and a 120Hz AMOLED display. Despite its flagship-level hardware, the Pocket Nova starts at an accessible price of $229.

Although the Pocket Nova has yet to reach buyers, Retroid is already teasing its next hardware release.

An official Retroid social media account recently confirmed that at least one additional gaming handheld is currently under development for release during the second half of 2026.

More importantly, the teaser strongly hints that the upcoming device will feature dual displays. Afeature that has been widely rumored for months.

If accurate, the dual-screen layout could make the handheld particularly attractive for Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS emulation. While also placing it in direct competition with AYN Technologies’ Thor handheld.

Pocket Flip 3 Rumored to Receive Major Hardware Upgrade

Although Retroid has not revealed the device’s design or specifications. Many expect it to launch as the Pocket Flip 3, replacing the current Pocket Flip 2.

The existing Pocket Flip 2 is available with either the MediaTek Dimensity 1100 or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, depending on the model.

The next-generation version is widely expected to receive a much more powerful processor. Allowing it to deliver better performance in Android gaming and demanding emulation workloads.

Retroid has not confirmed which chipset will power the new handheld. But a flagship or upper-midrange processor would represent a significant upgrade over the current hardware.

Beyond the dual-screen design, no additional details have been revealed regarding the display size. Battery capacity, RAM, storage options, or software features.

With the Pocket Nova targeting premium Android handheld buyers and a dual-screen device potentially joining the lineup soon. Retroid appears set to expand its portfolio and compete more aggressively in the rapidly growing handheld gaming market.
