ultimateimp – Google is reportedly preparing a new color option for its Pixel Buds Pro 2 flagship earbuds. The rumored Olive finish would expand the lineup without introducing a new earbud generation.
Google has been the subject of numerous leaks ahead of its Made by Google event on August 12. However, those reports have not indicated that the company plans to launch a new pair of earbuds.
Instead, Google could refresh its existing Pixel Buds Pro 2 with another color. The earbuds were originally introduced in 2024 with three finishes: Porcelain, Peony and Hazel.
Google expanded the lineup in 2025 when it introduced the Pixel Buds 2a. At that time, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 received a fourth color called Moonstone.
The Moonstone finish matches the main color Google uses on the Pixel 10 Pro series. Google now appears ready to add another color that could complement its upcoming Pixel 11 smartphones.
Leaker Roland Quandt has reportedly shared marketing materials that show the Pixel Buds Pro 2 in a new color. According to the leak, Google calls the new finish Olive.
The Olive color reportedly resembles the Moss option that Google plans for the Pixel 11. It also looks similar to the Pine finish associated with the Pixel 11 Pro.
Like the existing versions, the rumored Olive model features a two-tone exterior. Google gives the outer portion an Olive finish, while the rest of the earbuds retain a black appearance.
The leaked color would give the Pixel Buds Pro 2 a visual connection with Google’s next smartphone generation. However, the change appears to affect only the exterior finish.
Google does not appear ready to introduce major hardware changes with the Olive version. The company will reportedly keep the existing Pixel Buds Pro 2 features and specifications unchanged.
Olive Pixel Buds Pro 2 Could Keep the $229 Price and Existing Features
The rumored Olive Pixel Buds Pro 2 are expected to retain the existing $229 price. Google has not officially confirmed either the new color or its pricing.
The current Pixel Buds Pro 2 colors have already received discounts in some markets. The earbuds are available for around $189 through selected retailers, including Amazon. Google has also offered temporary discounts through its own online store.
That means buyers who are not interested in the Olive finish could potentially purchase an existing color for less. The discounted versions should retain the same hardware and software features.
The new color would represent the fifth finish for the Pixel Buds Pro 2. Google has previously used new colors to keep the earbuds lineup aligned with its smartphone designs.
Moonstone provided an example of this approach in 2025. The color complemented the Pixel 10 Pro series. Olive could now serve a similar purpose for the Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro.
The timing also fits Google’s expected product announcements for August 12. The company is expected to reveal several new devices during its Made by Google event.
Despite the number of leaks surrounding the event, there has been no strong indication of a new flagship earbud generation. A color refresh would allow Google to update the accessory lineup without replacing the current hardware.
The Pixel Buds Pro 2 would continue competing through features such as ANC, adaptive audio and spatial audio. The Tensor A1 chip would also remain a key component of Google’s audio platform.
Gemini Live could provide another reason for Pixel users to choose the earbuds. Google’s continued focus on AI integration makes the feature relevant to its broader device ecosystem.
