Pixel 11 Pro Fold Reportedly Gets Camera and Design Upgrades

ultimateimp – Google has introduced the Pixel 11 Pro Fold with several refinements across its design, display, performance, and camera systems. The new foldable focuses on improving the existing formula rather than introducing a completely different design.

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold features a 6.5-inch external Super Actua OLED display. The outer panel offers a 1080 x 2342 resolution, 399 PPI density, and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Inside, Google uses an 8-inch Super Actua Flex OLED panel with a 2076 x 2152 resolution.

Both displays use LTPO technology and support refresh rates from 1Hz to 120Hz. This allows the screens to adjust their refresh rates based on the content being displayed. Google rates both panels at up to 3,600 nits of peak brightness.

HDR content can reach up to 2,400 nits on both displays. The external screen uses glass ceramic cover glass for additional protection. Meanwhile, the internal folding display uses Ultra Thin Glass.

The rear battery cover uses fiberglass, which is also known as reinforced plastic. Google has also redesigned the hinge assembly for its latest foldable smartphone.

The updated hinge uses multi-alloy steel and an aerospace-grade aluminum cover. Google has reduced the device’s thickness compared with the previous generation. The folded thickness now measures 10.1mm, which is 0.6mm thinner than before.

When unfolded, the device measures 5mm thick. The phone weighs 239 grams despite housing two large displays and a folding mechanism. It also carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

Google offers the Pixel 11 Pro Fold in Olive and Obsidian finishes. The combination of a thinner chassis and revised hinge represents one of the device’s main physical changes.

Tensor G6 and 48MP Camera Upgrade Highlight Google’s New Foldable

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is powered by Google’s Tensor G6 processor. Google claims the new chip delivers 20% greater energy efficiency compared with the previous Tensor G5.

The company also reports 25% faster web browsing and 15% faster application launch times. The processor is paired with 16GB of RAM across the available storage configurations.

Buyers can choose between 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB of internal storage. However, the entry-level 256GB version does not include Zoned UFS storage. This follows the same configuration approach used by the previous generation.

The main camera receives a significant hardware upgrade over the previous model. Google equips the primary camera with a 48MP sensor measuring 1/1.56 inches.

The sensor also uses an f/1.7 aperture, providing a larger light-gathering capability than the previous camera. Google claims the new camera captures 56% more light than its predecessor.

The remaining rear cameras retain specifications similar to the previous generation. The ultrawide camera uses a 10.5MP sensor with a 1/3.4-inch size and f/2.2 aperture.

The telephoto camera features a 10.8MP sensor with a 1/3.2-inch size and f/3.1 aperture. It provides 5x optical zoom for subjects that require greater reach.

The telephoto hardware remains largely unchanged, but the phone now supports 30x Super Res Zoom. Google can therefore provide greater digital zoom capabilities through its image processing technology.

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold also includes two 10MP front cameras with f/2.2 apertures. Both cameras feature autofocus and serve the main and cover displays.

The foldable includes the same HiLight LED system found on the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL. Google also retains several features designed specifically for its foldable form factor.

Google opened pre-orders for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold on August 12. The 256GB model starts at €1,999 or $1,899.
